GOLDEN REUNION

With the excitement palpable in the air, around a hundred and fifty Alumni of St.Karen’s High School gathered together for their very first Alumni Reunion on the 25th of Jan’ 15 during the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the school. The Ex-Karenites reminisced as they recalled with nostalgia all the ‘highlight moments’ of their growing up years in their Alma Mater.

The programme started with a solemn flag procession while the hall reverberated with the tune of the school song sung by the alumni. The school flag was carried by the oldest alumnus of the school Mr. Kaushlesh Singh of the 1965 batch. He was followed by the other senior alumni members.

The Principal of the school, Mrs. Seema Singh spoke on the achievements of the school over the years. The founding members Mr. D.P. Galstaun and Mrs. L.B. Galstaun, shared their memories of their pioneering struggles and difficulties as well as their joyous moments of the close-knit bonds they shared with their hostellers and first students. They personally felicitated all the alumni present as well as conferred a few awards on some of the alumni for their outstanding efforts.

The newly nominated members of the association unveiled the logo of the Association along with its motto – LIVING THE SPIRIT OF ST. KAREN’S. The vision of the Alumni Association was presented by Mr. Syed Waquar Haider, an alumnus of the school who went onto become a Gold Medalist in Delhi University and is now a practicing lawyer in Patna.

The formal programme was succeeded by an informal entertainment programme which included a live band and a lunch banquet. The highlight of the event was a cake cutting ceremony by the Silver Jubilee batch of the Alumni members led by Mr. Ashwini Bhargav. Mr. Ashwini along with his batchmates of 1989 also planted a tree in the school campus as a symbol of their continued involvement in the affairs of the school as they “planted their roots” firmly in the ground for posterity.

With sentimentality and emotions running high a few of the alumni drew loud applause, loud laughs and a few tears as they shared their memorable moments at school.
